AHVCC Criterium Championship (results)


At last, a flat, dry course, something the weather beaten members of the Adelaide Hills Vets Cycle Club had been waiting for. The riders knew one thing for sure, it was going to be fast as the AHVCC Criterium Championship was up for grabs.


Ref Renee addressed the riders and called the first wave of competitors to the line. After a few last minute instructions the flag dropped and the riders were off. Paul Bell showed his class by breraking away from the bunch and storming to a commanding lead, eventually lapping the rest of the field and taking a superb victory. The crowd was going wild as the rest of the field came through, with Lindy Kronen, Shannon Hemmings, Graham Silsby, Dan Freer, John Horsnall and Wolf Harder all winning their respective divisions.


The second wave of riders were called to the start line and without delay were sent on their way. Craig Sheldon blasted of the line and challenged every one to catch him. No one could. Craig also lapped the field in a show of superior strength, negotiating the tight criterium course with consumate ease and taking an excellent win. Paul King, despite having a flat tyre, rejoined the race and won his division also.


Well done to all competitors who entered the event as without you there is, no event. A special mention to Ref Renee for keeping the event safe and to Sandy for her time keeping brilliance. To our road sweeping crew thank you for efforts. Without all the volunteers most things would not get done so thanks to all.
